"Honestly, there's no such thing as a typical day! I'm in HR and I have responsibilities over four small repair & overhaul sites in four different states - Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. There's a new surprise each day. I come in the door with a plan and it often changes, especially if I'm traveling that week. I speak to at least two of the site leaders per day, attend at least two tier meetings at whatever site I'm visiting and start trying to chip away at my very long to-do list. On a good day I'll go to the gym somewhere in there as well."
Ms. Coleman surrounds herself with positivity and inspiration. For example, Ms. Coleman keeps a picture of Ursula Burns, the first African-American CEO to head a Fortune 500 company, on the background of her work computer for motivation. "I'm always trying to 'dream a little bigger, darling' and think outside the box when it comes to my career." Also in the midst of her jet-setting, Ms. Coleman schedules visits with her friends who live near and far; keeps up with family members via social media; and FaceTimes loved ones often to keep in touch. Furthermore, this hard worker loves to laugh. "I want the world to remember me as someone who is reliable and fun to be around. I like to get stuff done, but I'll probably joke my way through it."
While Ms. Coleman is dedicated to her field, she is not sworn off from discovering new passions. "I'd love to be a VP of Human Resources one day but I know that that dream is likely to change..Since I could talk, my dad has always told me that I need to have fun every single day so whatever will allow me to go to bed happy is what I'll do. Today I really like HR, but the second I don't I'll find something else that makes me happy. I hate how cheesy that sounds, but it really is the truth."
